Ashton (girl)
- I've heard this name only a couple times before and it always struck me as a very beautiful word, both to look at and to pronounce. It also identifies one of my favorite indulgences - an Ashton 898 cigar.
- Ashton-Leigh Brooke: My sister's name is Ashley, and instead of giving her the same name I thought Ashton was lovely. Leigh is also for my family, it being my aunt and grandfathers middle name. Brooke of course is my middle name and I love it, I think its a full beautiful name.
Ashton is an English surname meaning "ash-tree town" that has been in use for boys since at least the 1880s. It didn't become used for girls until the 1960s, following the rise of the similar-sounding name Ashley. As of 2012, the spelling Ashtyn is most popular for girls, while Ashton remains the most common for boys. It is currently far more popular for boys than girls.
